Long The Night is the dark ambient side project by multi-instrumentalist and composer Derrick Stembridge known for his longstanding Drifting in Silence body of work.
Illusion is a sonic journey capturing the deep melancholy sound of things that are likely to be wrongly perceived or interpreted by the senses. Consisting of massive drones, chants, and field recordings, Illusion paints the picture of darkness trying to find a light in one's consciousness. Illusion perfectly balances so that each new listen reassembles the dynamic equilibrium in new and exciting ways.
Recorded, composed, arranged, processed, and performed in Autumn of 2020 by Derrick Stembridge.

My personal favorite of the Lovecraft series. This piece feels so calm, eerie, and mysterious. The slight plucking of strings is off set by the ritual drums and consistent reverb. Amazing combination!

Did Sergio Leone score a Western Set on a Post-Apocaltptic Mars? No. We at least have this. Rain beaten Gothic cathedrals half covered in sentient moss and carniverous seaweed casting long reflections over the still waters of Martian canals. Green Buddhist poet-monks chanting the Lotus Sutra and dissolving into Nirvana. This is sad and gorgeous music. Leo
